Postico does one database well. If your production data lives in Postgres and nothing else, a multi-engine client is paying for connectors you will never open, and Postico is the smaller, cheaper, more Mac-shaped alternative: familiar keyboard behaviour, table content you can edit like a list of rows, a query editor that highlights what it should, and a structure view for poking at views and functions without writing catalogue queries from memory.

Egger Apps is a small Austrian shop and the pricing reflects that — no seat maths, no annual invoice. $69 including VAT covers one person on three devices, forever, and the evaluation build never expires; it just leaves some features locked until you pay.

The honest limit is the version number. Licences are written for the 2.x series, and version 2 was a paid upgrade from version 1, so treat Postico 3 as a future purchase rather than a free update. The other limit is scope: if you are using a company machine on company work, the licence you need is the $99 commercial one.

Two reasons to skip it. You already juggle MySQL or SQLite alongside Postgres, in which case buy one client that does all three. Or you connect to a database twice a month, where psql and a decent terminal are genuinely enough.
