Proxyman

If you have ever argued with a backend team about what the app actually sent, Proxyman ends the argument. It sits between your machine and the network, shows every request with headers and body decoded, and lets you stop one mid-flight to change it. Point an iPhone or an Android device at it over Wi-Fi and you get the same view of traffic you cannot otherwise see.

It is the app Charles Proxy users move to, and the reason is usually the interface. Requests group by domain, JSON renders as a tree, repeated calls collapse, and the whole thing behaves like a Mac app rather than a Java window from 2009. Map Local swaps a response for a file on disk, which is the fastest way to build a screen against an endpoint that does not exist yet.

$89 buys one seat on one device, and the same key works on Windows and Linux — useful if your work machine is not the one you own. A year of updates is included; after that you keep every Pro feature on the version you have and pay again only if you want newer ones.

The free tier is real, and if you inspect traffic a few times a year it may be all you need. The paid features to test before buying are breakpoints, scripting and Map Local.
