Paying again later only buys what shipped after your window closed. The $179 lifetime tier ends the question entirely.
The friction is real, though. Most of what people arrive for — full calendar integration, the better export and sharing options — sits behind that unlock, and a year on you will be told about the next batch of features you do not have. It is Mac, iPhone and iPad only. If you want to pay once and never think about it again, buy the lifetime tier rather than the $34.99 unlock, or accept that the free tier is where you will stay.
