Check what your own Mac does first: macOS offers an 80% charge limit on recent Apple silicon MacBooks, and if a plain cap is all you want, you already have it. What Pro adds is an exact percentage, calibration cycles, heat protection, schedules, automatic discharge and Shortcuts support — the free tier stops at the charge limiter and manual discharge. Some behaviour, including discharge and heat protection, depends on what the hardware allows, so it is not identical on every model. Prices are quoted only in euros. And this slows future wear; it does not recover capacity the battery has already lost.

What you’re buying

AlDente stops a MacBook charging past a ceiling you set. If the machine lives on a desk, plugged in, sitting at 100% all day, that is the largest single lever you have on how fast the battery wears out — lithium cells age faster when held full and warm.

Before paying, check what your Mac already does. Recent macOS releases offer an 80% limit on Apple silicon MacBooks, and if a plain cap is the whole requirement, it is already there for nothing. AlDente earns its money past that point: any percentage rather than a fixed 80, calibration runs that occasionally cycle to full so the battery gauge stays truthful, heat protection that pauses charging when the cell is hot, scheduled limits, discharging down to the target while still plugged in, and Shortcuts actions to drive all of it.

The free tier is a real licence rather than a countdown, and it covers the charge limiter and manual discharge. Everything in the paragraph above is Pro. One thing to be honest about: this slows wear from today onwards. A battery already down to 82% of its design capacity stays there.

AlDente Pro is 11,49 € for a year (auto-renewing) or 23,99 € once for the Lifetime licence, and is also included with Setapp at 9,99 € a month. AppHouseKitchen publishes no USD price at all, so a card outside the eurozone pays whatever the conversion is on the day.
