shinywhitebox has been making Mac capture software since the mid-2000s, and iShowU Studio 2 is the version of it that records and edits in the same window: capture the screen with audio, then trim, add a zoom into the bit that matters, highlight the cursor, drop in a callout, export. It is less polished than the well-known competition and it costs a quarter as much.
The reason it belongs on this site is the store page. Studio 2 has one price, $79, and one licence type, perpetual. There is no annual tier for it and no upsell attached to the app itself. That is rare enough now to be worth pointing at.
What to check before paying. There are two similarly named recorders, and the fast one with no editor is a different $89 purchase — if you want both, the bundle at $119 beats buying them apart. The company's audio driver is a third product again, so if your recordings depend on pulling sound out of another app, find out whether you need it before you decide what this costs you.
Buy it if you make tutorial video occasionally and refuse to rent an editor. Do not buy it expecting the depth of a $199 tool or fast release cycles: updates land when they land, and for anything approaching professional screencast production you will feel the ceiling.
